I tend to have bad luck trying to guess when the pullback is over. Certainly on such a big run down I would be cautious entering with less than a 50% retrace and below the mas/vwap.

I would maybe have entered the candle after you stopped out or a few bars later, though that still would have lost money and also lacked volume confirmation.

You are spot on that the pullback was low volume and that made this a great pullback short candidate.
