Comments: I have traded NTNX for the news in relation to the new appointed manager for the EU area. Here as-well I am not that sure for the validity of the catalyst, I will check it out properly and try to document myself. I use to classify the catalysts but those today were something new for me!

Traded the 5min ORB and unfortunately the move has been so fast that I haven't been able to get a better fill! Though the stock performed at least to grant me 2 takes and following a nice volume profile. Consolidated above VWAP and pm high was the best scenario I could have for me to trade! Lucky it occurred just after my loss on CVS giving me the opportunity to take back the small loss and close the day with a modest 50$. Lol!!!
I haven't been able to make more than that cause the stock really faded losing volumes ergo I assume investors. I could have locked in actually more once back at first take but I wanted to give it the time and space required for me to add afterwards once crossing again the 28. It didn't occur and I am happy I have respected my set of rules even if I could have made double on it but for the sake of my trading practice and playbook I have to respect takes and adds to don't ruin my overall profitability in the long term. I have understood today that is time for me to focus on my order types. I can't have such slippage on 100 shares, this is ridiculous! -1, -1, -1 and finally -97? Come on!! I am gonna study what would be a better routing for my orders, apparently there is something going wrong here! Surely I have to use Super Smart orders! I will check it out!
BTW last remark is on the fact that I have been quite a while without opening a trade! I was not on holiday I was here as usual but I have back-tested other preferences and variables to add in my trading edge and I couldn't just trade gambling a new approach that wasn't tested yet! Perhaps and surely I think next days I will have the set up there for me to trade those new variables and specs!

That is some amazing detail and trading plan !! Duly noted, I will have to up my game. What software or platform do you use to backtest ?

2019-07-16 20:42:11

I trade on Lightspeed broker and I use Tradingview as charting but actually you could already backtest a strategy doing it by your broker and save some money :P
To backtest my trades I just write them down and go back to what I have done. BTW Tradervue it's already the best for that!!
One more way I have used is this:

and many more hahaha

In the trade showed in the pic I traded TRV. I have played the Trend Continuation strategy (TrendC) stopping break even last piece (SLBE) and missing a target due to high greed (mPThG/F). I wrote all that below the respective columns. As you can see what I have traded gave me 1 point(TrendC) + 0.5 points(SLBE) - 0.5 points(mPThG/F).
To get the sum of all your trades once you have written all below each other you have just to type this formula in Excel:

=SUMPRODUCT(--(D4:D163="H>"))*2
This will give you the sum of all the trades that contain the word "H>"
You will then choose your own words (codes) to identify your self!
To recap you will type below the "H>" column the formula I wrote before,
below "H<" : =SUMPRODUCT(--(E4:E163="H<"))*2
below aOFF: =SUMPRODUCT(--(F4:F163="aOFF"))*2
below wSL: =SUMPRODUCT(--(G4:G163="wSL"))
below >S: =SUMPRODUCT(--(J4:J163=">S"))/2
etc
Note that if you want to give more then a point to what you did cause too bad or too good you have to multiply the formula by 2 or whatever multiplier you wanna use. You can see that in the formulas I have typed, they multiply by 2 cause really bad but "wSL" has no multiplier cause worth just 1 point.

S is dived by 2 cause I have given to it 0.5 points
etc..
In the very end you will deduct by the positive points the neg ones and you will get your result!
I really really hope you have understood otherwise write me on Twitter if you need any help!

Nice Mr_Potato I am really happy to be of any help!
