Reading the tape
I did not read the tape here. I needed to be paying attention to the tape premarket and I was looking into CAT at the time. On either trade, working hard on the second trade and watching the tape would have kept me out of the second trade.
Trade Management

I am okay with the first trade as an attempt at a gap fade and the first one I have tired in a while. Even with the loss, I needed to try for one of these. I felt the risk I would have to put on here was reasonable enough to short in front of 16.23 that I had work that had been working as some resistance as we came into the open. I was wrong, but I am going to be wrong I had the right risk on to take this trade. I was targeting 15.80 and prepared that 16 may hold but give me a chance to cover.
