Rationale:
-Gapping up ~3.5% on positive earnings news; gapped just above daily resistance level
How much risk should/did I take? 1,380; appropriate, <9% of NLV
Recap:
How could I have traded this better?
-do not remove trail stop; better to leave it on as I figure out strategy to minimize risk and preserve capital
-explore open to high (gap ups) and open to low (gap downs) for similar-sized gaps to calculate the estimated size of the initial move
-will help figure out if i'll be able to catch the primary move/initiative activity or the secondary move/responsive activity (ie, whether there is enough upside/downside left to join the initial move)
Gain/loss relative to expected gain/loss:
-gain not as large as expected
-took off 1 lot at 20% ROC, reason to sell was big up move on elevated volume
-held the last lot way too long; removed trail stop and then held past break even thinking price would bounce
