Daily Report Card: D-
-morning prep: F
-market prep: F
-stock prep: D
-level of focus: D (was on weekly RE call)
Rationale:
-ROKU gapping down 0.4% on the open; 5nins prior to open ROKU was holding at a -1.36% gap down
-no news catalyst, and volume was light - the 1st 5m bar was the only bar with abnormal volume
-ROKU is in a daily uptrend, but balancing sideways after the sell-off on 9/10 & 9/11 last week
-QQQ is in an hourly and daily uptrend; just pulling back to the up trendline
-my bias was bullish on the open given strong first 5m candle in ROKU and the market trending up positively (while TICK opened middle range and ADD was forming an uptrend/while S&P flat & balancing above VWAP)
How much risk should/did I take?
$1,496; 11% of starting NLV; appropriate level of risk
Recap:
-after strong 5m open, ROKU consolidated above VWAP which was my entry signal
-saw consolidation on 5m chart - small bodies, long wicks, sideways overlapping candles
What did I do well?
-took profits when I noticed price wasn't exploding higher
-confirmed price was holding above VWAP before entering trade
-sized down given last two trades were losses
How could I have traded this better?
-identifying the lack of abnormal volume in real time; could've taken off remaining size as price approached $153, since there was lower likelihood of continuation
What did the tape look like during the most important moments intraday?
-did not screen record this trade
Gain/loss relative to expected gain/loss:
-gain in line with expectation
