APA | SHORT - LONG ( IRAN News Play )
With the worries of a potential War, Oil and gas prices rise. APA had a huge day, the biggest in 52 weeks. Highest volume also .
I have mixed feelings about how this will play out. One side i could see this drop off due to both sides showing that they are not looking for war ( de-escalation)
Had a strong close but i’ve seen this play before, and it usually starts the day with a gap up then drop from there.
Short interest up 20%, this may fuel the initial move then a short opp.
Did push through new highs like expected but i was too early on the short. Got burned but shorted later on just before the 11am press conference.
The Thesis on this trade with the War tensions lowered by Trump, we see a drop in oil prices which in turn should have APA dropping also but they did discover oil in one of their areas which was used as a catalyst along side the war news. Also having shorts getting in the way.

With patience I finally got the drop, the following day. with no New news coming in, and oil prices down, it was a matter of time that this day was going to work.

morning back down was expected. low volume in premarket looked great. very weak off open gave me all the conviction I needed. held it till the second consolidation point which lined up well with the day 1 support level.

Started off with a big loss on this on Jan 8 but was able to re focus and nail this with the swing
