Trade Details:
I entered this trade thinking it would bounce and squeeze shorts at 2 creating a bear trap. I'm completely pissed with this trade even though AH I got what I was looking for from the start. I over traded and kept fighting the price like an idiot. After my 3rd attempt I told myself, ok its not working let it go, but i didn't and I kept thinking it would squeeze with no evidence of it. The break down of intraday support was real selling with volume and it didn't trap any short but I kept over trading and fighting it. I finally got the squeeze AH and got a nice gain closing everything late in the day. I entered at 2.59 AH on momentum and got out at 3.36 and 3.19. All the trades before the close was a big lesson for me. I will be implementing new rules for myself next few weeks to create better habits and not over trade.
My Mood Today and How I Dealt With It:
I was somewhat calm, but excited because it was another day of trading.
- I kept calm so I could listen to myself and focus on my trade
- I ate some lunch and walked the dog to clear my head from work in the morning
- I really wanted to focus not being overly excited to trade and just let the trades come to me, if they come.
Comments:
I had the right idea that it could potentially squeeze but after 3 tries I had to let it go and let it prove to me it's squeezing, not try to catch the start. I need to remember I just need the meat of the move.
What I Did Well:
- I identified a low float stock that was overcrowded with news on it's first green day that had potential to squeeze eod.
- Quickly identified it had PR in the am.
- Didn't give into the urge to get out right away and make money AH, I waited for my target and stuck to my plan AH, not before the close!
- Took profits; didn't hold and hope for PM.
-I kept watching the stock AH.
What I Didn't do Well:
- I over traded and went on tilt
- broke my rule of 3 attempt on a play and move on
- I didn't meditate in the morning to make myself feel balanced and better focused.
- I let my emotion take control and din't wait for confirmation.
How I Will Improve:
- I am going to make a timer to make sure I meditate early in the morning
- I am going to only focus on one stock at a time next week.
- I am going to create a checklist of info I need to know about the stock prior to entering the trade.
- I need to not over trade and after the third attempt on a play I need to leave it alone and move on.
Biggest weakness(es)/fault(s) on this trade?:
- Fighting the price after 3 attempts on the play and not waiting for confirmation of a squeeze. Over trading.
How I will improve upon these:
- I am going to create a note to put beside my monitor that says 3 tried and move on to the next trade or end the day. This will be included on my list of rules.
How I'm Going to do More of What Worked:
- I am going to continue to watch the market AH and set alerts for any potential AH moves.
Biggest Lesson(s) Learned:
- After 3 attempts on a play I have a increased probability of going on tilt and over trading. I need to recognize this in real time and end the trade to re evaluate the information.
What Else I Saw/Almost Traded Real-Time:
- I was also watching NIO but once that trade was over I concentrated solely on this stock.
I have a slight edge, therefore I will place little importance on the outcome of the next trade(s). The market is composed of a high degree of randomness and uncertainty. I am not in a battle with the market, the market is not against me - I am merely in a battle against myself whilst trying to navigate the markets
