Reading the Tape

I was not confident in what I saw on the tape. It was obviously against in the morning. I did see it start to fail at 40.08 after hitting the early morning high. It was obvious enough that it was getting tired I did take the last add on the bad short. The rest of the day changes in momentum took a few minutes. I could see 39.77 was an inflection point in the afternoon. The tape also showed strength at 39.63 which were both worked later in the day.

Trade Notes

• I was on the wrong side at the open. I was expecting this to flush through 39 and work it’s way back later in the morning. So, I shorted this as it failed at 39.30 looking for the flush. It just managed to go against me. When it did not stall at 39.40, I should have bailed the but I added in anticipation of pullbacks at .50 and .80. Once it crested 40. I decided to add small all the way up to 40.60 expecting it to finish the gap fill and spend a little time above the priors day close. I started taking partials as it started to trade back in the 90s. I was looking to take some profit on the higher end shorts and add back in when it tested the HoD. However, it moved far enough for me on the last load for me to get out with a small win.
• After the pullback and finding support just under 39.70 I played for this to overcome 39.80 a level that had shown dome resistance in both PM and during the run up. I finally played the resistance for a quick scalp back under .70
• I took the long as 39.70 started to hold again got most of the run up to .95 with a couple solid partials but got tapped out as it failed to hold the SMA. I took a break at this point because I felt like I was pushing a bit here.
• I took this next trade after taking a break and following the consolidation and was tapped out as I kept the stop tight under the SMA.
• I missed initial sell off. But, watch the SMA get tested but the price action would not extend above that. I took the short just above .80 and worked it down to VWAP bailing before the finally flush in .59
• I did try and long this as it started to hold .80 which was the breakdown point of the last move as it failed I did to the short side with a tight stop on an SMA follow for a solid small win.
