thought it was going to be a great short, but shot back up. since it wasn't doing what I expected I got out of the trade.

Same thing..trying to time the top of a stock to short is not idea.

Notices when it did base you had a more clean defined setup to play...http://screencast.com/t/psPzsOJ7FR , so you could have took the short around $30 with a stop just above $30.20.
