Had AMD on watch due to strong volume yesterday on news of AAPL possibly using AMD chips in place of intel. It broke ATH in premarket with a PT upgrade as well. Watching the tape at open saw strong buying breaking premarket high. I entered with the momentum looking for a push above $54. It ran to $53.80 the pulled back to test $53.50 as ES pulled it down a little. I added another contract on the support at $53.50 as there was strong buying behind it with bids stepping up consistently. AMD broke through $54 quickly with little resistance on the tape. With /ES now pushing back towards ATH I continued to hold. I should have sold on that quick rip through $54 but when i didnt and it started pulling back i was watching $54 to hold. It dipped below it and quickly pushed back through it. With /ES now helping AMD on held for the push back above HOD then locked gains on the resistance in the $54.40 range. I though about leaving a runner right after i sold for the potential of continuation with how strong the move was. In hindsight it pulled back and wouldnt have mattered but it just as easily could have continued to run. Something to consider moving forward. I am sticking with 1 contract most of the time but due to catalyst and momentum i felt confident adding to this position. How ever i need to get my emotions under control consistently with 1 contract before sizing up.

Entry grade:A
Exit grade:B Should have locked on the quick push above $54 which gave it full ATR. Held from $54.30 through the drop back below $54. I would like to think i would have cut if it kept pushing down but thats where i have struggled in the past. The time will come when that is tested and i need to be disciplined and correct that issue.

Overall grade:F Although i feel like i traded the stock well overall i should not have added to the position. I dont have my emotions in control enough to be sizing up yet and have set that rule for myself. So i broke that rule today and will move back to 1 contract. Its all about controlling my emotions and setting good habits right now. Once that is under control I can start sizing up. However long that takes.
