One sign I generally use to avoid this type of mistake is looking for curves. I noticed while trading that the ones up on earnings that start to curve down generally continue to curve down towards the previous day's close. I think I pushed this one because I was watching the market for an hour or so, and I felt like I needed to make a trade.
