day 3 BGU with 0 catalyst prev days but someone obvi knew something lol. Caught short on 8am news they were awarded govt contract for Covid vaccine study. Getting caught like this happens (and will happen again) but my default needs to be DEFENSE not offense. My instinct to fight is inherent in our human nature - "fight or flight" - but its just another emotion that works against us in trading. I need to train my brain to immediately exit all, then compose myself (stand up, drink water, deep breathes), evaluate situation/news/etc to try and recapture a sliver of objectivity. Exiting also allows the dopamine/adrenaline to slow. This is a trade/chart to print out + review on monthly basis - use it to develop a Pavlovian type of tool so that an alarm goes off in head - GET DEFENSIVE/EXIT ALL. As for execution, 1 thing that made it more difficult was news hit at exactly 8am when off exchange executions, some of which are way outside bid/ask, hit tape so i wasnt initially sure if what i was seeing was "real." Of course when I heard news and saw where bid was thats when its bail out time. I did have some offers stacked above for typical 8am push but really thats not the right play regardless of news or not. Let the push higher play out and add on backside if situation dictates. After 1st 15min rally got a small pullback but buyers established clear support area $10.80s which held for 45mins plus - i was objective enough to identify it. At this point probability was a move higher so defense it was and i covered all on solid green 5min 8:35. Risk of new high a buck higher w/ 15k shares was too great given the already out sized loss. Can always re-trade a stuff or break of $10.80s level as long as i have capital in acct. Rough trade but a scar that can be very useful for future as long as I use it to learn (an expensive lesson but could be invaluable if it prevents a future blowup/disaster).
