Summary

Overall this wasn't a bad trade as I exited at my stop level as planned, given that it was a 50/50 trade. That said, I should have exited before market closed as I barely missed the $2 run-up after hours.

Did Right
  • Exited it when it got to my stop area
  • Didn't size into this trade as I never got any confirmation which helped limit this loss
Did Wrong
  • Held into the close, which is often the danger zone for me
Improvements
  • I should really avoid these trades all together, and focus on the high probability setups that I can size up in. However, if I do take these understand that they really are 50/50 trades, and have hard stops in place to exit when they don't work out. as they will very often not work out.
  • Be more aware of the 5min 20ma; especially later in the day. Looking back at SQ, I can clearly see that it fully reset after breaking below the 5min 20ma, and then come back up above, and then putting in a higher low above the 5min 20ma. I mean that's a bullish entry signal if you think about it. And sure enough, it ran straight up to $135
