It was looking like another slow PM and I was waiting for the brokers to open up and news to drizzle in so that my scanner can catch something. Lo and behold, ANTE pops up 4:05 my time. I see this thing spike all the way and quickly get to work. Yahoo Finance stats for the float, TweetDeck for the degenerates pumping, TOS news, 1 year chart, 360, 180, 90, 30 day charts for the PM spike history. 30 day 10 chart for PM spike history, then zooming in some more 5 day 1 min charts. Never holds spikes. I have a new column on my IB TWS where I have all my short stats like fee rates, available shares, etc that also includes industry. I look it up some more... It's a Chinese airline entertainment stonk Lol. Airlines are all suffering right now... Nothing really going for it. News was that it got a capital increase of about 10%. It wasn't enough to warrant that crazy spike and the stock in general never holds spikes. The float was small, but these small floats sometimes can work in favor to break down faster if it's a stock with bad history of spiking and weak in every criteria. It broke down as I anticipated, I covered 30 minutes before the open (premarket stays in premarket) and was thinking about shorting the initial spike, which I didn't as I decided to just get screen time in and not trade anymore for the day as I'm getting lots of success now and don't want to be over-trading. For improvement and learning purposes, if I had to do it again, I would short at 7am PST and ride it out for an hour or so as it breaks down with 5k shares or so. Overall, $1050 gain, if I caught it earlier would have been way more. Gotta be alert!
