Technicals:

Continued short squeeze up from mid 20s, far overextended. Large fail after break into the 40s, key level 39.50s confirmation

Summation:

Entered 10 shares at 39.40, accidentally set limit to 36.50 instead of 39.50, still a decent entry point. Second flush into the fails, I tried to get a better size up, but ended up adding 15 at the 39.10s and ended up with an average of 39.22.

Fails into the 38s were good, realized that the move probably wasn't going to continue much beyond that and began setting up an exit for the 38.90s, but limit order was cancelled for some unknown reason and ended up getting scratched out near my entry. Unsure of the cause of this, and will need to pursue.

Takeaways:

-It's likely better to step back and observe the market when you have days like this. Personal events I can divorce from my mind mostly and focus when necessary, but when it affects sleep quality and lack of focus, that becomes an issue. If you're not all there, don't trade.

-Forwent another move that had right on intuition, but wasn't prepared to take. Make sure not to lose the forest for the trees. There's always plenty of other moves.

-It's not a necessity, but in this market it may be better to shift focus back to trying longs again. Shorts are working but not in the way they were when I first started. If you're going to commit to what works better, go all the way.
