The setup: I was looking to see if there would be a continuation of the selloff from the earnings breakdown from the previous day, after breaking the trendline of the runup into the previous day's close. It spiked below the line and the previous candle looked indecisive, prompting me to move by entering short. I should have been more patient and looked for an entry on a spike up if I wanted to go short (or be prepared to let this trade go if I didn't get such an entry). Waiting just two minutes more would have gotten me that entry which I wouldn't have been stopped out of and there was a lot of downside (as I hypothesized, but luck of course is there, too). This was a pretty large loss for me, and I'm trying to stay away from opening range moves.

The setup: Quick bear flag. I gauged the speed of the downward momentum and after a spike to the upside I decided an entry here could be viable as long as the down move wasn't too extended. Another look at the daily chart told me that I was still in a reasonable range for a move down on slightly disappointing earnings, so I took it.
Exit: I scaled out well I think, picking targets along the way and using limit orders. I decided the move was probably over and took the last bit off without letting it run too far away from me.
