APDN Halt Trade Recap +$2600 in under 1hr. - Fri. Jan. 8th 2021
Strategy: Breaking News, Gap Up, Halt
Catalyst: Covid-19 variation treatment exclusivity, FDA verified.
Recap: entered trade immediately after breaking news appeared. Long 1000 shares at $6.64, barely got filled- stock halted within seconds of my order filling. Trading halts is one of my strategies so I immediately prepared for managing my position on resumption for minimal risk and maximum profit. After the first resumption the second halt happened so quickly I was unable to add but I could see a lot of buying pressure and increasing prices so I was not as concerned with an upcoming halt down.
On the next resumption I sold half my position and scaled out to 0 shares through the next halt and into the first pullback.
I could've held the whole position to the high then sold, but didn't want to get caught in a halt down holding full size. That's happened before and it sucks to give up all the profit from the trade. So, all in all I'm happy with over $2600 profit on 1000 shares in under an hour.
