I got really lucky (and unlucky I guess) on this one. I always try to get in premarket between 9:20 and 9:30. Earlier is a problem when it goes near my stop. I end up spending so much time on the ones that are going to stop out that I have problems focusing on the other trades I need to get in. I am always worried it is going to spike hard and I'll miss it, so I'm constantly checking for the one running to my stop. I never got one...until today.
I got in CLPS and very quickly it ran up 50 or 60 cents. My stop was at 4.13 from just 4.05 (originally it was 3.80 I think but it ran up a little). When I looked, it had already blown past my stop. So I quickly got out. So that was the unlucky part. The lucky part?
I was supposed to get in at 1620 shares but only got in for 470. I think I read the wrong line on the worksheet I was going off of. I noticed it right away, but I didn't feel great about the trade (probably because of the tight stop) so I just left it. Good thing I did. Another mistake that actually helped me.
