Hi Zoltan, i am happy my trades are helping. It sounds like you are making great strides bc you made some really good points/observations.
First, I was red on the day. Barely but still red. And i considered it a win for me bc in past i would get steamrolled on trend up days like this so i'm happy with small red days on trend up days.
Experience certainly helps in identifying potential trend days. Two of biggest factors I noticed on this day 1. SPY gapped above previous day high despite it being a solid red candle on daily. So everyone that shorted was no underwater and likely buying back. 2. the opening NYSE TICK was +2000 which is outrageously strong - that told me that buyers could be in control all day.
I also look at options open interest for the day. And of course recognizing the price action of SPY. After seeing the grind up so many times you'll pick up on it as well.

Hi dpaleo,
I like how you traded yesterday. Many plays did not work out, just like for me. The market was in a grinding up mode and so most exhaustion did not turn into a fade, rather bought up an washes and grinded more or higher.
But I like that you traded GME and GRPN and turned the difficult day into green. I did not manage to do that and grinded myself down unfortunately.
I guess it just comes with screentime that on days like this one must wait for an emotional activity to take advantage of. And the grind must be regarded with small size or left alone totally. As a short seller of emotions - that is.
Even though we do not counteract much, I am learning from your trades.
How do you go about being mindful whether it is a market-grind day, market range-day or a fade all day? I know the charts in hindsight, but having trouble being observant and mindful against what my wishes are.
Keep it up!
