$-58.48
Today, I planned to enter BTX at $40.00 but missed the entry which would have been great as I would have made money. Then, I decided to buy at $43.00 in case the first green candle turned into a second green candle. Like a rookie, I accidentally chose $42.70 on TOS with the auto send feature on. I could kick myself. The candle immediately went red. If I had selected the stock properly at $43.00, it would not have filled because the high of the red candle was $42.97.
After sitting through three red candles and down $50-$102, I decided to scale out of my loss by selling 7 shares when it went back up to $36.72. That was the first time selling shares like that. Normally, I flatten immediately so I am learning. Those shares filled which helped me recoup some loss. I ended up down only $58.48 versus over $100.
Note to self: DO NOT trade high priced stocks at this point in my trading career. I am not ready for them.
What I did right: My strategy was sound but my execution was poor. I practiced selling while holding which was good.
What I'll do different next time: Have the auto send option checked for morning trades. This shouldn't cause too many issues because I should be pre-planning my trades.
Plan going forward: Print out my new rules and post them near my desk.
Penalty for breaking rules: Run 2 miles. I am going on my run now. :D At this rate, I'll be in great shape! LOL
