Tesla has been in an overall downtrend and the best trades lately have been short, but there are still many opportunities for long trades in this market environment. On this day it was down from the open, but it's previous downtrend was broken and it was putting in higher lows. It was in an uptrend on the 1-minute, plus in a shallow pullback just below VWAP. It had pulled into the uptrend line on the 1&5 minute. The bottom of the pullback seemed to be in already and the depth was similar to the previous one. I was trading with the trend and had multiple factors in my favor. I entered with $1 of risk and got $4.60 of reward from my best sales.

There was the potential for more reward from this trade by keeping a portion on to be stopped out or move higher, but at the point where I sold, I would be overall positive on the day. If that part got stopped, I would be negative, so the choice was made to cut at my profit target (admittedly pretty arbitrary as "get back even", not based on where I thought the trade could go). Shows a bit of lack of experience, but the trade did do what I thought it would and I picked a great entry. This was my only good trade on the day.

One thing I could do better is keeping more of my shares on after I take off risk on the initial portion. I sold half my shares only part way through the move. I would have to sell a lesser amount to actually de-risk the trade entirely.
