Long swing trade. This started as a buy when AMD broke the 50dma and a flag directly under it simultaneously. I started averaging in 500-1500 shares at a time to establish a good sized position in the hopes that it would push up towards $3 over the next few weeks. The volume pattern was very bullish on the daily but all the fiscal cliff junk ended up pushing me into a little too much heat and I had to cut it for the loss. Also, the night before I cut it at 9pm there was an article about one of the VPs of the company moving to another company so I'm sure that didn't help especially since there was a gapdown in the S&P 500 due to fiscal cliff worries. I still believe this stock will push towards 3 after the new year and it might even bounce off the 20dma and give me another chance to get in, but my average became too high and I was holding too much of it. Though this was a big loss I was going for a $2000-3000 gain so relatively speaking it was still a decent trade, though some people I discussed it with viewed it as a chase since when I bought it it was already 50% off lows regardless of it breaking a flag and the 50dma. Probably the real play in this stock was back in late November when it broke the 20dma and $2.00 mark simultaneously. Lost $675.60.
