this looked like it was gna tank, so I decided to go for with the stop right above the high of the previous candle, and the price did tank for like 2 bars and once it got close to support I closed the position

It tanked, because it gapped right into price resistance on the daily chart (not seen in this small daily chart here). Nathan Michaud (Investors Live) also shorted this.
