What a market gift, what a trade. These are the opportunities that I should be looking for constantly and take full advantage of.
SHOP broke below a major daily support level=bottom of 2.5/3 month trading range=$1,430 the previous week, with immediate resolution to the downside all the way to $1,285. I tried the short on 09/27-the day before the actual break- and got stopped out at b/e, and then missed the trade when it played out the next day.
SHOP bounced hard from $1,285 all the way to...previous support $1,430. What a gift. 1st re-test of such an important level should be easy fade as trapped longs at higher prices will look to trim/unwind exposure.
Premarket plan was to get "short" at the opening pop to R1=$1,430 expecting a brutal rejection there, VWAP loss and sell-off back to yesterday's close=$1,400 at a minimum.
Tricky play, held much better than expected before seller hammered it down. Opened strong, popped to R1, offer in-front of the resistance level didn't get filled. Sat tight and watched price w/o attacking the bid as it was showing relative strength vs market, esp. Qs and that threw me off a bit.
Got short filler size, risking above R1 $1,435s, as it formed a series of lower highs w/o even tagging the resistance level, and then added Tier 0 as it rejected the level to the penny and rolled over, tightening stop $1,431..., expecting move lower.
Went bid-less after my entry. Lost VWAP, consolidated below the m.average and continued lower. Covered 50% in-front of yesterday's close, more at S1=$1,387, got flat before the bell.
Still in with 50% of size in the swing acc., target <$1,350.
