Thank God this is all the money I lost on this stock today! It should have been a lot more but 2 of my trades were Rejected... not sure why.
I had No idea what this stock would go up or down from looking at the Daily. I saw Kunal mention it on Twitter and I got excited because he was talking about it in the Market Recap yesterday so I just opened the chart and bought. I also traded double the size on this than any other stock I traded today because I was excited. Trading a stock as it builds itself candle-by-candle and trying to predict where the stock is going is LOT different from looking at a chart of completed movement in the course book.
If my brain was on (lol) and if I had done homework and reviewed to see how much this stock typically moves in a day, I would not have expected the stock to go up more after going up about $2 in 1 hour, but I did. Looking at the chart now, it was clearly extended and the stochastic was overbought. I then held on to this stock Way too long hoping for it to go back up and waiting to try to sell high enough to limit how much I would lose. Kunal said we would want to do this. I should have cut my losses but I didn't. I also think I was in way to many stocks at the same time anyway so it was hard to manage all. So I guess this counts as overtrading too because I didn't wait for a setup, I just felt I had to be in everything.
When I bought at 12.29am at $83.79, the stochastics were oversold so I bought but it took one more candle down before moving up, so I was a little early but at least my thinking was right. Held way too long again and I didn't have a stop-loss set and I didn't want to make a big loss. I held as long as I could but my mental capital was drained and I just wanted to get out without killing my whole day so I missed the end of day high.
This has taught me that I NEED to master the setups that work at market open because I don't want to stay in stacks for the whole day. I am not yet familiar with predicting how much stuff will go up or down and so timing my entries and exits will be a focus for me to master.
