Big Picture

Markets have entered a period of higher volatility and have broken the grinding higher action that was previous. QQQ had run as high as 408 before retracing as far as 318 in the prior days session. This is due to a combination of events ranging from Fed rate hikes to contro inflation, to conflict between Russia and Ukriane.

QQQ had one of it's all time best performances the prior session running up over 20 points.

Technical Setup

VIX: 28
RVOL: 110%
ATR: 11.14

From the open QQQ could not make a meaningful move above VWAP. My plan was to find places to get short to see if I could catch a retracement. My initial entry was just below 341 & VWAP which got stopped out. I reentered when price could not make a meaningful move above 341. The plan was to short pops and cover into dips until I saw a move above VWAP.

Trade Management

I did pretty much what I set out to. At one point I had 90 shares and they came very close to my sop before reversing and working. My finial exit was when QQQ broke it's overall downtrend on the day. Since I was trading with the trend, this was only a small hit.

Conclusions

This worked really well. I would have liked to see a deeper retracement given the monster day that QQQ had prior, but I will take what the market has to offer.
