Should have just scalped this. Got emotional after I got stopped on the 2nd half when there was no follow through. Gave back all my gains shorting it like a retard. I need a hand to extend from my computer and slap me in the head when I do this.

Yep you're right. That's the exact reason I should not have gone short: my reason for being long was still valid. If anything I should have gotten back in long.

After the short, one could look at this and say that your reason for getting long in the first place wasn't yet proven wrong - and there were lots of opportunities to get back in on the long side. I like to look at my trades like this and think about how and whether I should have gotten back in after stopping out...
