this was a inadvertent hold overnight. apparently i put in a limit order the previous day that did not get filled and i did not 'cancel all' before logging off, causing the order to get filled and having me down [PL] before market open.

spoke to geoff about it and he has notated to not allow overnight/swing trades on my account, in the future.
