I got faked out of this position. It consolidated below 8.90 and I took a fair short position at 8.87 (although 8.90s would have been better). I think because of my less than optimal entry, I lost confidence in my trade idea.

It gave one final spike up to 8.95 or so which scared me out and I covered to protect against any losses. Of course, it then continued to dump exactly as I theorized originally.

This was an unnecessary loss and a missed opportunity.

To better trade such a setup in the future, I can either:

  1. Trade smaller (possible?), have a larger margin of error and more controlled fear of loss
  2. Put in hopeful orders at 8.90 risking 8.95 over under with $9 hard stop. If I miss the trade, I miss the trade but at least the best possible entry will increase my confidence through price volatility.

Losses such as these are unnecessary and I should work hard to avoid such losses in the future.
