i like to see prices make a new high of day, then retrace as much as possible ( best case is make a new days below premarket low) once both sides of the market are wiped out u can reset your thesis and just look for what option has more risk to reward (long or short) . when the congestive base set at the 10am mark, usually we tend to build a trend and get a retest of the highs, almost like ur anticipating range like structure to form ( bounce up n down wide range between intraday highs and new intra lows.I then like to see either a big red candle fail at the swing low, or a nice green bull signal bar that closes on its high as best as possible. enter 1 tick above and risk the new low of day, ur size is according to your risk size must be adapted to each trade you take to manage risk best. in this trade i had to be able to hold 7.5pt risk.so in this instance i took large contract size only because i knew that if it can go 1-2pts i can remove alot of size for an easy scalp that occurs very frequently in this setup to give at least 10ticks. so i get rid of majority of risk after those first 2.5 pts. after tht i held onto a couple contracts and when i got another short trap ( people calling a top) was easy to add with confidence and start removing big size to front run those who are exiting their great longs from the 4040s n using the knowledge that shorts are going to pile in with limit orders, i used their limits to exit my long. 4060/4065 was clear res with a big red supply bar on a higher time frame earlier in the morning. i would have held thru a new high but when it rejected 4060 perfect i jus removed the last of my size. instead of trying to be right all the time, let other people " be right" and ill just take their stoplosses when they end up being wrong 90% of the time.
