PREMARKET
- PYPL on the gap down list premarket.
- Candle action premarket and volume were looking really good, good enough to possible trade.
- ETB, ATR: $2, M.C., Gap down.
- I didn't have a bias for any direction, was just planning on watching the claim to either direction with solid confirmation.
OPEN
- Was waiting on solid confirmation because right from the open the stock gapped well below the VWAP, far enough for me to not be comfortable getting in for a short trade.
- Trade 1: I took the trade to the upside after 15 min OR, I realized the candle had double bottomed around $67.43 on the previous 2 5min candles and was curling back up on both charts with intention to move back to the VWAP. I took an entry and added on 1 and 5 min candle confirmation move. 2:1 R:R at my entries, I was noticing that the trade was moving against me in the following 1 min candles, and I stopped myself out 10c before my stop, sure enough the candle broke to the downside and never reclaimed the VWAP for the rest of the day. Small loss but kept me from a bigger loss.
REFLECTION
- There is a fine line between stopping out early because you are scared to lose money and stopping out because you actually see the development against you.
- It is important to start recognizing the minor pull backs and continue to hold your position because your trade idea is still valid.
- It is also important to recognize the opposite. When you are nervous about your position and are aiming to get out even though the trade is still valid.
- Watch the levels and price action cold heartedly and with no regard for emotion. Play close attention to what the chart and volume is telling you.
