Today, there was some activity in the gappers this morning, with PIXY being the leading gapper. I decided not to trade PIXY because it is not part of my strategy for building this account, but Ross Cameron won on this trade.

From my memory, YTEN was mentioned in the chatroom, so I decided to go for this trade because it was a former runner. I decided to reduce share size. We were already past peak times in the market for volume, and it didn't trade on a lot of volume on the 1-minute chart.

This turned out to be a much more speculative trade than what my strategy allows for. It only traded with about 30k shares of volume upon entry, which is below my 70k to 100k ideal 1-minute volume parameters. Had to stop out of the trade on poor liquidity. I lost $180.12 in net realized losses on this trade.

This loss took me momentarily out of the trading zone just moments before AYTU popped up on the scanners. I wasn't quick enough to get an entry on the trade before it began to halt on a circuit breaker. Thankfully, I didn't get in. The stock turned out to be longer than the standard 5 or 10-minute it usually is. Halts going longer than 10 minutes makes entering setups like these much more risky for going in with 100% of your buying power when momentum fades as traders seek to trade other stocks.

Ross thought that the halt may have gone on for so long because it was a stock that traded with high volume compared to its historical trading data. This probably was the case. In my opinion, the fact that it was a Friday when this happened and that the volume spike happened after 6:45 AM PST contributed to its long halt.

I may need to revise my strategy now. Is it better to only go in a setup like this with only 50% of your buying power? Is it best to take the risk of a long halt with 100% of your buying power in a strong, sympathetic market? These are questions that will need to be answered later.
