I entered on a flag break but didn't wait for conformation, result was the flag broke down instead of up.

You have to consider the big run it just had; just because it goes sideways for a couple of candles does not make it a bull flag setup.
I'm not fond of the TraderVue charts. Here is a screen shot of the way I read this play. I really appreciate what you've taught me here, because I THOUGHT I was seeing a pretty clean Bull flag.

Also notice how the ema's are not flatting out on your chart when you entered. You want them to start flatting out and curling up under the candles for bullish signs.
