i use them all the time. I think they are a great visual to see the overall direction of the stock. I know they are not necessary, but its amazing how the chart respects these imaginary lines. When you can watch a 3 min or 5 min chart and each candle is just riding up the MA, you can really get a sense of when to buy or sell.
